Main results

The aim of the project was to enhance the capability of the State Border Guard Service (SBGS) of Ukraine, particularly the National Academy of SBGS named after Bogdan Khmelnitskyi, with technical means for training in radiological and nuclear materials control. The National Academy of SBGS is a state educational institution for border guard officers and was in need of modern detection and dosimetry equipment for practical training on the prevention of illicit trafficking of RN-materials.

Nordisk Sikkerhet assisted the National Academy of SBGS by procuring and providing:

  • 4 isotope identification devices,
  • 6 gamma and neutron handheld detectors,
  • 2 devices for automatic radiation monitoring,
  • 80 personal electronic dosimeters, including 2 computers and software for the dose monitoring system.

This project addressed the needs of the National Academy of SBGS and raised its technical capability in training future officers on detection, interception, and mitigation of the unauthorized movement of RN materials through the Ukrainian border.
